How to read a grade

Decoding a GO grade code

Manufacturer grade codes pack the key facts into a few characters. This example follows the reference manual’s convention.

B27R090
  1. B

    Manufacturer prefix

Identifies the manufacturer’s own grade system — here, the reference manual.

  2. 27

    Nominal thickness

    Thickness × 100 → 0.27 mm. Listed thicknesses: 0.23 / 0.27 / 0.30 / 0.35 mm.

  3. R

    Type

    G = conventional · P = high induction · R = domain-refined high induction.

  4. 090

    Max core loss

    Core loss × 100 → 0.90 W/kg, measured at P1.7/50.

P1.7/50
Core loss in W/kg at a peak flux density of 1.7 T and 50 Hz. Lower is better.
B8
Magnetic flux density in tesla at a field strength of 800 A/m. Higher indicates better permeability.
Equivalent grade
A grade in another standard with comparable properties — always check the governing standard before substituting.

Other manufacturer grades

Comparable grade codes from other mills — shown only with permission.

Values pending

Equivalents are approximate. Properties, test methods and tolerances differ between standards. Confirm the governing standard and the mill test certificate before substituting one grade for another.
